Free SAT Prep Workshop
More than 500 students turned out! Don't miss out on the next one, scheduled
February 16, 2014.
Free SAT Prep Workshop a HUGE Success!
More than 500 high school students took advantage of a FREE SAT PREP WORKSHOP, Sunday, September 14th, at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel. Organized by Each One – Teach One Alliance for Academic Access, Achievement and Success and SPMG Media; the SAT math and writing workshops were taught by volunteers from The Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center and the prestigious West Los Angeles Windward School, with the goal of helping to bridge the academic achievement gap between inner-city youth and their more affluent counterparts.
The FREE SAT PREP WORKSHOP provides greater opportunities for students to excel on the SAT Examination. More than 2 million US students took the SAT in 2011. Of those, more than 40 percent were minorities. Despite the increase in minority student testing, there remains a significant lag between the overall academic achievements with their counterparts. This is due largely to the expense related to SAT Prep Workshops, which can run into the hundreds of dollars.
The overwhelming response to the FREE SAT PREP WORKSHOP indicates that these students have a passion to achieve and desire to improve their SAT scores. “Some of the achievement gap is really a test preparation gap,” according to Dr. Chris L. Hickey, Sr., Executive Director of Each One – Teach One. “Offering SAT workshops is an important component in making sure all students have access to the best colleges and universities in the country.”
Each One – Teach One’s next FREE SAT PREP WORKSHOP is tentatively scheduled for February 16, 2014. For more information, visit www.e1t1.org or www.freesatprepworkshop.com

Specific attention is given to how the staggering global proliferation of cell phones, IPads, digital social networks, eBooks, video games, Wikis, Wiis, email, texting, IMing, MP3 players, IPods, PS3s, personal computers, Xboxes, etc., are affecting the nature and cognitive process of learning. College Going Culture
The focus is on how parents can strategically influence the home, school and community experience of the student, utilizing methods that consistently support: a) their student being interested and aware, as early as elementary school, of career and college options from a global perspective; b) the school’s expectation that all students can be prepared to attend college; and, c) a consistent message of high expectations for the student’s future.
